$4.00 A Gallon?

As the tensions over oil continue to be strained, our increasingly serious situation is becoming evident to even the most unobservant people. Gasoline, one of the major products of crude oil, has topped $4.00 per gallon in many states. Many experts are predicting that these rising gas costs will not stop. Some are even predicting prices up into the double digits in a relatively short amount of time. This chart illustrates just how quickly gas prices are going up.

The Goal

My goal for this blog is to gather more factual information and hopefully get some interesting perspectives from other bloggers. Oil has become one of the most important issues in the world today and especially in America the effects of culture on oil politics are evident. As I continue to develop my blog I will work to gather as much information as I can about American culture and its role in shaping the politics of oil.

Video

I think this video takes a good look at the American situation now. This video looks at both sides and is more fact focused. I feel it is important to gather facts and information before drawing conclusions.

The Beginning

As I look at every media outlet, television, radio, websites, newspapers, and in books I see many Americans focusing on one topic. Oil. Everywhere I turn I see the effects of oil in a culture that is quickly becoming dangerously dependent on it. Despite the push for the elimination of fossil fuels, America is still thirsty for oil. The focus of this blog is to find and examine the political aspects and repercussions of the conflict over oil and see how they come into play in our oil focused nation. Instead of just another rant on oil, I hope to look at the politics of oil as well as a commonly overlooked aspect, American culture. Despite the dramatic impact of culture on the oil conflict, it is widely forgotten and as a result, people are missing a major side of the story.
